Nora’s Nursery

It’s finally all ready to show you guys – the long awaited Nora’s Nursery! I’ll be honest I’ve always wanted to prepare and decorate a baby girl’s nursery, I mean Miles’ rooms were super fun to do, but making Nora’s mood board for her nursery was totally my cuppa tea. For me, the mood board helps me visualize the room along with helping me with a “theme” for the room. For instance, I knew I wanted floral accents and ended up with daisies here and there throughout. Can you spot them in the nursery?

I also knew that I wanted an accent wall. I had previously had wallpaper up on the accent wall (see post here) and to be honest, I was getting sick of it. If I could, I’d probably change wallpaper every few months because I’m just crazy like that and don’t mind the change or the work (well asking Roy to do the work lol)! So I knew I couldn’t do wallpaper this time, if anything I needed to add some colour. I ended up choosing Benjamin Moore’s Chippendale Rosetone (HC-58). This rosy-pink has just the right amount pink and peach and so many of you guys agreed and loved the colour when I first shared it through stories. I found that two coats was enough because the wall beneath was white previously but you may need more if you have a very difficult colour to cover.

Crib: Mid-Century 3-in-1 Spindle Crib | Blanket: Willaby | Baby Camera: Nanit | Bassinet and Stand: Plum and Sparrow | Daisy Rug: Nico & Yeye | Area Rug: Muji (no longer available) | Black-out Curtains: Ikea

Crib Sheet and Mobile: Pehr and Pehr | Wall hanging: Plum and Sparrow | Dolls: Cuddle and Kind

Nursing Chair: Monte Design (old) | Wooden Rainbow toy | Daisy Bin: Pehr | Daisy Pom Pom wall decor (DIY) | Dolls: BlaBla Kids | Rainbow Swaddle: Quincy Mae | Lumbar Pillow: HomeSense

Next, I started choosing key players for the room: the crib, dresser, and nursing chair. To be fair, I had a nursing chair from Miles’ old nursery which was kept in storage. It’s from a Canadian company called Monte Design and we didn’t feel like we needed to waste money on a new one. Because we didn’t spend the money on a new nursing chair…I wanted to spend it elsewhere! The crib was something we could have reused from Miles but I really wanted baby girl to have her own – something that went better with her rosy-pink room. I ended up choosing the Mid-Century 3-in-1 Spindle Crib from Crate and Kids. I have been waiting for them to come to Canada ever since I saw their offerings in US stores. They arrived earlier this year and I have had the opportunity to work with them on showcasing some of their pieces in both kids’ rooms! I just love the look of this crib against the accent wall!

Finally, the dresser. I actually ended up with one that I have been eye-ing at Ikea for like ever. All I did was switch out the knobs because I found ones from Pretty Pegs in a Soft Terracotta colour that I loved on our existing bedroom furniture.

After the key pieces were chosen, I added accents! I found the cutest Kids Rattan Nightstand from Crate and Kids. along with the sweetest Flower-Shaped basket that acts as storage for swaddles and blankets, and of course the best Pehr Baskets and Bins to hold all the little things including diapers, wipes and little knick knacks.

Since this was Miles’ old room, there were a few pieces I kept and reused in Nora’s nursery as they fit right into the space so well such as the Ikea stools, rattan mirror (similar one has been seen at Homesense), Wooden Peg Rail with Shelf , and Wooden Clothing Rack. I did have my eye on this Flower Crown Wall Mirror from yes you guessed it, Crate and Kids, but it’s currently backordered so I’ll have to wait until the fall for it to arrive – stay tuned for an update!

I also added the cutest light fixture (Shea) to tie in all the floral details from Mitzi, isn’t it just so whimsical?

The best part of decorating any room is adding all the finishing touches. Nora is my first girl and so yes I may have really went overboard with some decor items but I think they do make the room what it is!
