Top 10 Must-See Vendors at the OOAK SS19

I’m so excited to announce that my partnership with the One of a Kind Show (OOAK) has extended into this year! You guys know how much I love my well-made, handcrafted goods and there’s no better way to check out local products than at the OOAK Show! Last year, one of my favourite blog posts was my DIY gift boxes. This year, I wanted to give you guys something you could take to the show. There are well over 500 vendors and artisans at the show, but I can see it becoming overwhelming for first-timers or for those short on time. Keep in mind that there’s re-admission to the show, but if you’re making a quick stop, take this post with you to the show as I’ve listed some of my must-visit vendors before you decide to leave the show!

Before I share my list, here’s some tips on how to go about the show since there are so many different vendors at the show.

TIPS for your visit

    1. Plan your visit by going to the OOAK site and printing out a copy of the show map and guide. With the map, locate your must-visit vendors so you don’t miss them! If you’re on a time crunch, check these makers out first. This will ensure you get to check out the vendors that were on your list. Pro tip: Always check out the Rising Stars section of the show. I always find the best artisans here with their new and up-and-coming products!
    2. Make it a date with your girlfriends, friends or significant other! On March 28, the show is open until 11pm! Grab a drink, walk around and enjoy the show. I don’t know about you but this is my kind of Thursday night!
    3. Dress comfy and I mean a cute pair of sweats and basic tee is not a bad idea! Make sure to wear comfy shoes too so you can cruise down the aisles. You’re going to thank yourself at the end of the day when you’ve spent hours, walking around the show!

Must-see Vendors

    • Baltic Club – This Montreal-based duo, makes some of the cutest paper products I’ve seen to date! From stationary to poster frames, you can pick up something for anyone. Last year, I purchased a poster for Miles’ room along with a frame – a one-stop shop!
    • Stephanie Cheng – What I love about this Toronto-based illustrator and designer is her range of prints. Not only can you pick up a pretty naked lady print or all you empowered ladies out there (yes you’re welcome), but at the same time, you can also grab a little something for your hockey loving somebody or even of course, our golden boy, Drake.
    • Bajoue – Combining function and adorable design, Bajoue makes the most adorable baby clothing and accessories like BIBS make everyday moments easy to capture. A great stop if you’re looking to pick up something for a baby shower or for your little one!
    • Papoum Papoum – Another great must visit artisan for their handmade stuffies. Every baby needs one and honestly, I’m getting FOMO just thinking how long Miles hasn’t had one of these cuties!
    • ALTR Soaps – Made in Hamilton, Ontario, these handmade bar soaps are made from local and wildcrafted botanicals. Great for those who love 100% natural and vegan consitious with super cute packaging as a bonus!
    • Wolf & Pine – This duo creates herbal beauty care that is natural, vegan with a touch of humour. Products range from face oils to dry shampoo and they’re perfect for that girlfriend you have who’d appreciate their stuttle humour on their packaging.
    • Murphy and Jo – One of my favourite candles and I always end up picking up a few at the Show because you can’t have too many candles! This year, I’ll be checking out their hand soaps and lotions because the scent combinations look unreal…I mean Honey, Oud and Sage anyone?!
    • Hoibo – Looking for some simple, and hand-made pieces to add to your spring wardrob? I always love taking a look at what’s new for the show from bags to clothes!
    • Cylinder Studios – This Picton-based designer/maker produces a Kinfolk-type feel tablewares. Her ceramics are simply yet beautiful and would be perfect for those who enjoy hosting!
    • Abeego – I purchased these beeswax food wraps at the holiday OOAK last year and honestly, they are food savers that eliminate waste while preserving them for longer! I swear by these and am ready to pick up a few different sizes. They would make the perfect gift for mama if you’re already putting her in your radar for Mother’s day! I know it’s a household item, but it’ll change her life – I promise!
